Inverness

- Caledonian Channel -

It took us more time to travel through Inverness than actually it takes for the distance from Edinburgh.

Road-works stopped us. After two hours stop 'n go we reach for Bed & Breakfast Sealladh Sona (Peaceful View) at Winpark.

Immediately we start a shopping tour, since two years ago we passed Inverness without stopping here. The weather is pretty warm and we enjoy walking around.

We are buying some sweets, such as "Quality Street" before we are visiting the castle.

New buildings amongst old houses. The famous castle, which was built in the 12th century, is already closed that day.

From the castle we can see Craig Phadrig in the distance.

Soon all shops are closed and we walk back to the Caledonian Channel.

There a lots of things we like to buy. We need a sword an a tartan bag. In this shop we find lots of fantastic sporran. Unfortunately the prices are fantastic, too .

Suddenly amongst houses offering B&B we find this charming laundry

Close to the B&B there are the locks of the Caledonian Canal. Far in the backround the bridge over the Moray Firth is to be seen.

Winpark is located at the Caladonian Canal, managed by Marjory and Peter Cook. Everything is nice and cosy, it is very calm outside and we are sleeping very well. Indeed, Sealladh Sona is the best B&B we ever had. We will come back.

The breakfast appears to be a perfect performance. We are served by Peter while he is telling lots of interesting story. We feel like being in a theatre!

We hope to visit this B&B again and Peter says, we have to hurry up. Majorie and he are still waiting for Japanese and Korean guests before they are going to retire.
